Wow, those look great, Henry. Yummmmm. Then again any fresh garlic looks good to me, just some more than others. (I love garlic...but then it must be ethnically innate in my case. :O:)

2007 Garlic Bulbil Capsuls
Randy Fraser Valley, BC Canada |
Hey guys nice pics. I can taste the pasta right now....
I got some garlic from an organic farm and it is fantastic. Do you think I could plant a few bits of it in a pot and have it flower and go to seed for a fall planting? |
Hi,
Any garlic you have, always remember to sterilize it before planting... That is very, very important, even if you know the source!!! Planting a garlic clove at this time, will be too late for maturity to take place. Though if you plant the sterilized cloves in the ground come October, you will have your own garlic bulbs next June/July. To obtain garlic bulbils, you will need to grow Hardneck or Artichoke Garlic! The scapes that are sent up in May will need to be left on the plants until they swell up and mature in late June or early July. The mature bulbil capsuls can be hung on the scape they are attached to, then dried in a warm, dry, darker location. Then, once October comes, you can plant the tiny bulbils in a marked area of soil in your garden or in a grow box. The bulbils will grow to be small garlic rounds or bulbs after one season. The second season these bulbs or cloves will get larger, sometimes reaching full size in good conditions. Some varieties take up to four seasons to become full size Garlic. Though these Garlic will be fully adapted and climitized to your location! Even able to resist many diseases... Randy |

Henry,
Saving my Majestic Porcelian and Italian to go with your Northern Quebec for Porcelians. Spicy Korean Red was very positive this year, though I want to improve stock by bulbil method. Pyong Vang Asiatic requires improving by bulbil method, even though it grew reasonable. Just not as impressive as others... Also going to grow Xian and Stein for bulbils next season, to save someones stock. Completing in self contained growing buckets, with no holes. All cloves to get hot water treatment(110 F), to kill any possible disease. Talk soon, Randy |
Thanx Randy,
Nothing like fresh garlic...nice pics... I guess I will have to do a little research before the fall. Thanx again, Tim |
