Growing herbs in the garden
 

Please mind my noobiness on growing herbs,

I have an assortment of herbs that I ordered from Johnny Seeds and some dill seeds I collected from my grandpa. Is there anything special I need to do to grow herbs in the garden? I wanted to try growing basil around the tomatoes as a kind of mulch, has anyone done this before. I assume after the last chance of frost I should be able to sow all the herbs?
