I've never used coffee grounds in containers but sprinkling a little on top of the soil would not hurt, but I wouldn't use use coffee grounds for seedlings or work it into the soil.

Robert Pavlis covers the myths and realities of using coffee grounds in gardening in this video. Pretty good info.
