Patching an old galvanized watering can

Any suggestions for how to patch my very old galvanized watering can? It's developed a tiny hole in the bottom, probably a tiny rust spot where the galvanizing has worn off. Silicone perhaps? Some sort of caulk? I've only been using this can for 54 years so I've grown a bit attached to it! Many thanks...

We use copper pennys after drilling holes for washers.A SS steel washer cost at the big box costs a pretty penny.Use a awl gently identify other pin holes,light sand, find some of the Gorrilla glue expoxy and dollop a penny on top of glue inside of watering can on top of the leaking target(not a drilled penny,against the law!).Let cure

Latacrete hydro ban, I coat the inside of all my metal watering cans,its very expensive but it is amazing.

Epoxy will hold up well as there is not much sun exposure down there.

Sounds like lots of great ideas. I have always used something like an old sickle section from a combine or swather and carefully brazed it over the hole on the outside of the can. If you go this route however, be sure you are outside in fresh air and try not to breathe the fumes coming off as you braze it, galvanized steel gives off some nasty fumes when heated.

Maybe JB Weld "WaterWeld"? Safe for potable water. I haven't used it, but I know regular JB Weld is a good product.
