Doin it in the Snow.
Well, we have had more snow so far this winter than we normally have for the whole winter. A couple pics with my Greek mutt doing it in the snow. Ami

We're in the middle of the first real snow storm of the season here in Western Pennsylvania... Must be 8-10 inches out there already, and it's supposed to continue until this evening. Sigh. Time to go out and shovel some more.

Hey Ami,
Your photos look great - especially the last one. Take heart - I started 32 pepper seedlings in trays yesterday, so Spring is not too far away. Raybo |

AMI, your pictures are beautiful. They make me want to leave the flat land and move to the mountains.

Most of the trout fishing in my area is done in ponds and lakes which have been stocked. Our elevation here is around 400-500 meters and the snow comes and goes during the course of the winter. Down south in the alps is a different story and am not familiar with fishing in that area. Ami

in the summer months to fish in the so called "Put & Take" lakes with farmed rainbow trouts (not a native specie). It have always seemed weird to me, as Denmark have some of the best sea trout fishing in Europe |

The rainbow trouts here are usually bred in freshwater and therefore never gets a chance to turn silver. Luckily, the rainbow trouts have not been very successful in the wild here, and the ones that escapes the aquacultures can not reproduce. I know it is a very invasive specie in other countries. In the case of the brown trout, some of the offspring will swim out in the sea and become silver colored, here they grow much larger than the ones that chooses to say in the river (the ones that stays in the river will remain brown with red spots). I don't know if they do it in all states in the United States, but in Texas; every little pond that has public access and gets cold in the winter is heavily stocked with rainbows all winter. We have many ponds in parks which are "children only" fishing ponds. People are encouraged to fish them often because when the weather warms, they will die if not caught first. Kids love to fish for the trout and they make an excellent meal.
