what to do about squirrels pulling upnew corn shoots, eating the
seed corn. what can i do about them?

my bros. is an avid hunter and loves fried squirrel with gravy. i have a dog Lisa who is obsessed with squirrels, this is their third all out attack on my corn so i rule nothing out!

how big is the area? i lay down chicken wire on my garlic bed to keep the furry tailed rats from digging into it to bury acorns. it is very effective but it's just 60 sq ft. tomato cages laid down? if it's a field i'd get a .22 can thin the herd.

Shooting them is the only thing that will stop them. I never have figured out why the squirrels started eating everything in my garden after 25 years with no problems. A good friend of mine has a garden about 4 miles away and has squirrels all over the place and they never eat anything in his garden and he grows all of the things I grow except cantaloupes.

They are unpredictable. I think they have a fast learning pattern, and short life spans, so once one squirrel learns a new trick, they all do it, and then the next generation has no idea. We are infested with the Spawns of Satan this year - I plan to begin quietly shooting them (pellet gun) and frying them up here in this urban and refined neighborhood of Atlanta. My neighbors would brand me forever a mountain red neck if they ever find out.

Here at the Muddy Bucket Farm, after a long spell of 20 guage persuasion, the little @#$%&$#%@'s are seeing it may way.
BTW, squirrel and dumplings is a "top notch" perk from the "persuasion" activity.
