Large Fruit Varieties
Whats your favorite? I fell in love with kelloggs breakfast this year and part of the reason is the shear size of the tomatoes. i would like to grow a couple more varieties that continuously produce large tomatoes. so i would like to put together a list which i could then research and narrow down to a few i feel suit my needs. so have at it. thanks

I can't say they're all favorites of mine but I'm sure they're all on somebody's fave list. The following varieties consistently produced fruits that weighed a pound or more in my garden either this season or last: Big Cheef, Believe It or Not, Bobbie, Brandywine Heart-Shaped, Brave General, Church, Copper River, Desters, Dr. Lyle, Frank's Large Red, Gildo Pietroboni, Orange Heirloom, Rosovyi Myod, Pruden's Purple, Reif Italian Heart, Serdste Buivola, Slankard, Tarasenko 6, Toedebusch Pink, Virginia Sweets, Wanda's Potato Top, Watermelon Beefsteak and Watermelon Beefsteak Potato Leaf.

You're very welcome- I forgot Eastham Pink Heirloom, the runt was 9.6 oz. but most were well over a pound and the largest at 2 lbs. 6.6 oz. was my largest this season. I still have seeds for a few of the ones I mentioned so if you're interested, PM me.

Copper River is one i am interested in. this is a determinate plant giving you large tomatoes? how do you like this variety? Dr Lyle, Frank's Large Red,Tarasenko 6 are all varieties i am considering, any thoughts? have you grown Cherokee purple or kelloggs breakfast? i have grown them and was wondering how they are compared to Pruden's pruple and Orange heirloom respectively thanks

I found Mule Team and Stump of the World to be very consistent in large beefsteaks. Chapman too, all produced tomatoes well over a pound, but Mule Team was the clear winner in production. It had a great flavor, not very sweet, but excellent for a lot of dishes. I'll grow Mule Team every year from now on, I was very impressed with it in every way.
