Harlequin bugs!!!
The past few years I've had these in the garden but this year has been the worst ever. They are in such number that it's kinda scary, LOL. Also, last year they really just stayed around my brassica type plants and left everything else alone. I guess there are so many of them that they had to find something else to eat because literally every plant out there is covered. You can hear them eat! I was going to do some cleaning up out there after supper and couldn't bring myself to attack it with all those critters lurking around. YUCK

Just going from memory but I thought that HB were beneficials? Most beetles are excluding the dreaded cuke beetle.

I'll get some pics tomorrow but they are shown on that link above. They are definitely not beneficial. They can destroy a plant in no time, at least in my garden by their sheer numbers.
