Default 2014 Harvest!

A Black Sea Man greeted me yesterday, ready to be picked! What a great start to the year.

These are in my top 3 tomatoes and I grow them every year.

The plant was one of those I mentioned in another thread on determinates are not really determinates. This plant was seeded on Jan 6th 2013 and fruited in Mid summer. I left them and saw flowers again in September.

Now we got the first fruit of the second harvest.

Picture will be posted later.

With a record (for me) 404 varieties seeded between Sept - Dec (100 per month), I will be posting my experiences throughout 2014 here...

How wonderful!! Black Sea Man was on my list earlier on.. I like growing tomatoes that produce like indeterminates but have the stature of determinates. I love Green Zebra for exactly this reason. And it's a gorgeous specimen in the flower garden! But it doesn't seem like BSM would be nearly as productive.. Maybe if I were in Bermuda

I also harvested one of Tom Wagner's crosses yesterday, Skykomish.

Ah, it's so good to hear of someone's harvest beginning when mine has just ended!

We talked about my indeterminate "Black Sea Man" or Chernomor before, since then I got seed of "Black Sea Man, I'm expecting to be the correct and determinate, in a swap - planning to grow both next year with some other promising blacks. Not 404 mind you, but as many as I can manage.

That would be Steve's ( Double Helix) cross that I offered in the experimental section of my 2013 seed offer and am also offering it and his other one this year.

It sure looks intersting. Are you going to continue working with it?

Carolyn, who doesn't make deliberate crosses.

Duly noted! Thank you for the correction. Yes, based on good looks alone, I will continue to work with this one.

Ate the biggest of the F2 Anth cross today. Either it is early in the season or else it tasted fairly good. Ripened to red and purple. Will post a picture later.
