Rain/Water immunity of various insecticides/fungicides
So, Ive decided to be a little more proactive about foliage diseases this year and have sprayed 1/2 my plants with
daconil. Also, I recently found a few tomato worms (evil, evil things!) and dusted the entire tomato patch with BT(Dipel). Finally, I've used some Neem oil spray on cukes and beans. Needless to say, it rained last night. What has been your experience with the effectiveness of any of the three mentioned "-cides" after a rain? Does the rain essentially wash everything off, and you must reapply? Thanks in advance! Lee

I sprayed Daconil yesterday morning, and yesterday evening a big thunderstorm rolled through, and we got about a half inch rain. Just looked over the tomatoes, and there is still white coating on lots of the tomato leaves.
If it rains again this evening, I will spray Saturday to coat them again because septoria is really trying to gain a foothold in my tomato patch. The initial pruning of the bottom leaves to open up some air flow, and to get rid of infected leaves plus spraying Daconil has kept the septoria manageable. If it rains a lot, I will spray them every three or four days so twice a week. Last edited by snippits; June 20, 2014 at 09:48 AM. |

I am not sure that you should wish for a pesticide that doesn't wash off... You, or somebody will be eating those tomatoes.

Lee I have found that a few drops of dish liquid in the spray lasts thru at least 1 or 2 hard rains. Hope this helps
