indoor winter blooms

In winter here, I must turn my attention to growing a few things indoors to tide me over so my green thumb doesn't get rusty. I love amaryllis and have a few orchids etc. so I thought I would start this thread to see what others are growing strictly inside, your best indoor blooms or houseplants that you are proud of as examples. I would like to see what folks are growing inside in winter. post a pic!

Here's an outdoor volunteer tomato sporting blossoms!

The kitty is sure enjoying that sunny window. Maybe a bird outside? Karen that is a beautiful amaryllis. Do you keep it by the window when in bloom. Is that a third bloom starting? I have 2 from last year that I forgot to fertilize and was late letting it sleep and adopted 4 more this year. None as pretty as yours, standard red or pink. Your rosemary looks big and healthy too. I bought a few pots at the end of season sale and have a cuttings going. I have petunia and geraniums in bloom for some color and also took cuttings from those that I'm hoping will take. My basil is going south from disease, so I need to start some resistant variety eventually. Over the weekend potted up ginger from the grocery. Never an off season for me, just putter on a smaller scale.

Richard, tomatoes are $3 and up a pound and taste awful and it gets worse in Jan/Feb. Envious of your endless summer and year round harvest.

A kindred spirit I generally put them in the sunny window to get them blooming then move them so the blooms last a little longer. I have a bunch of bulbs I have collected and summer them outdoors. Most are asleep in the basement but I bring them up a few at a time and that way I can enjoy them longer.

I have two phals in bloom, as well, along with my dwarf Meyer lemon tree. Those lemon blossoms smell heavenly. Cheers!

No camera here but every Xmas I have someone get me a couple of Amaryllis so now I have the traditional Red Lion and Minerva.

Especially loved since on a slow day I can look out at the birds at the feeders and sitting in my recliner chair I can look to my left and watch the two plants grow and grow, then the flower buds on those two plants start going up, and I swear that when I'm even watching them they grow more.

And yes, I have grown orchids in the past but not very successfully since there's a three foot overhang around my home.

But I do have lots of plants out in the LR/DR such as staghorn ferns, two dwarf variegated ficus trees and a few more whose names I've forgotten except I know they are all gesneriads.

I love stag horn ferns Carolyn. Are they fussy and difficult to grow ?

My two aren't difficult to grow at all, actually I think they are the same and once had labels that arelong since gone. They have the small reddish seed spots on the undersides of the leaves which makes those leaves look just beautiful.

I would not call the leaves RL or PL, LOL but I think you know what they should look like. They do get some sun in late afternoon here in the winter, but not much, and considering where they grow in the wild they don't need that much sun,
