tomatoes stronger than trees?
Last night we had a very strong storm blast through. Estimated 100MPH winds, either straight line or tornado not yet determined, took out seven trees on our property. Several were uprooted, lots of large branches particularly one of our two 150 year old oaks lost a major limb (2 foot diameter) and both shed medium sized limbs (8-12 inch size). A prized ten year old Golden Raintree snapped off mid-trunk.
Fortunately, not a single tomato stem broken. Every CRW cage upright and doing their job.

Sorry about your trees Paul. Sounds like major clean up work, but so glad your tomatoes came through like champs.
Saw on the news about those storms. Glad you came out safe. gets scary when winds get that high. You must have cages secured good, that wind didn't pick them up and send them flying. |

While I would be heartbroken over the loss of my tomatoes, the trees damage and loss would be so much worse. New tomato plants can be grown in less than a year. The trees would take longer than my lifetime to be replaced.
