Brandywine Yellow VS Brandywine Yellow ( Platfoot) Strain
Can anyone tell me IF there is a big difference in production and germination rate between these 2 varieties? If so, what are they and if any taste difference. I prefer a higher acid tasting tomato or well balanced over a sweet tomato. Thank you for any information.

I have grown both side by side for a few seasons. Platfoot throws a bit smoother fruit, yield is the same, taste is the same. Wonderful tomatoes.

Yellow Brandwine itself was first introduced by Barbara Lund of OH, which she got from Charlie Knoy of Indiana. Since Barbara inroduced it to the SSE Yearbook it became, and still is,very popular. When Iwas sent the seeds for the Platfoot one, also in Ohio,I was glad to get them and spread them around as well. http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/w...dywine,_Yellow link to platfoot in the above by Tania doesn't have the background for either one. Now reading what I wrote about Platfoot on page 72 of my heirloom tomato book,l I noted the following. late season yellow beefsteaks turning deep gold mostly in the 1 # range, growing singly or in clusters of 2-3 indet, heavy cover of PL foliage yield moderate taste rich, complex, not sweet Carolyn, and it is much smoother than the non Platfoot YB strain and back then I switched to growing only Platfoot. Almost forgot, you asked about germination, the same for both,no problem, they aren't two different varieties, one is a strain of the other.
