This being Tomatoville I read through only the tomato selections.

Many that are called rare are not rare at all and are found at several different seed sources, some of which do ship to Europe.

I also found that the histories of many are not correct. Brandywine is not 250 years old. Arkansas Traveler is not an old heirloom variety; it was bred by the U of Arkansas. Just a couple of examples. Lillian Lemon should be Lillian's Yellow Heirloom. And there are many other errors.

But I don't know who can speak to seed purity or seed germination for that site.

I admit I'm very wary of e-bay offers although some have turned out OK for folks.

You already have several seed sources in Europe that are great. If you don't know them I'm sure folks here can tell you about them.

There are also several US sites with very good reputations that will ship to Europe.

A couple of them are:

tomatogrowers.com
sandhillpreservation.com

And there are more. But with those two companies alone you'd have close to 1000 different tomato varieties to chose from and in general seed purity, germination, information at those sites and service, are excellent.

No company that deals with open pollinated varieties has a perfect record when it comes to seed purity, just b'c of the nature of open pollinated versus hybrid seed production.

So if you like to bid on seeds, are comfortable dealing with e-bay and feel that seed purity and germination is good, then why not try a few varieties.

If it were me I'd go with standard well known seed sources. But that's me.

vegetal87.... you might take a look at: www.tomatsidan.sc
in Sweden. I've ordered from there with good results.

Carolyn,
Your info on the errors about some heirlooms is interesting.
I would love to see a thread about mis-information. I'm not saying that you personally should do it as I know you are healing. It would be nice to have something like that.
How's the not smoking going? lol

One thread about all the misinformation out there would never work b'c there IS so much misinformation.

Years ago I would e-mail some sites and try to be helpful. Some appreciated it and others didn't.

How is the smoking going? Just fine thank you.

I figured that if there was a thread about mis-info, that there are always those that want to argue a point and the thread would end up being nothing but a huge argument. Which is a shame because it would be nice if alot of bogus info could be cleared up .

I've bought seeds from Dave and had very good sucess with germination. The seeds seemed true to description. They were generous and quick to ship. I was one of his first customers on ebay. He was also VERY helpful with advise on growing.

Italian frying peppers are GREAT and I encourage anyone (especially in Texas) who will listen to grow them.

Default dave's seed and garde

I ordered from them the first time this year; timely deleivery and good quantity of seeds; I have not grown any out and can not address that; most of the reviews on ebay, of course, deal with product and delivery and not how true they grow out; this would be true for any seed seller; I gave a positive review and would order again.
