Default Kambuzi peppers - what a treat

I have been enjoying the small pumpkin shaped peppers called Kambuzi, which are from the central Malawi plateau in Southern Africa. The name means "little goat" peppers, as goats are known to munch on their leaves.

Very prolific. Nice citrusy flavor, and not too hot. I use them for relish eaten raw, and pickle them to get a nice hot pickle for the table. The Malawiis eat them raw and use them for fermented pepper sauce.

Let me know if you want seeds.

That looks really cool.

Edit: apparently Saltmarsh and I are not the only ones who think so:

Scot, how hot are they? More than an average jalapeno, or ?? Big burn or back of throat warming?

Moderate heat. More of the fast citrus burn than the slow heat - hotter than a jalapeno but I can easily nibble on it raw.

Scott, those look so pretty, too. I'd like to add them to the peppers I am thinking of growing next year in the front. Do you want a SASEor ??

Also, how big/bushy are your plants?

Just send me your address. The plants get pretty big - 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide.

By the way, all my plants are from a single pepper plucked from a relish bowl at a banquet in Lilongwe.
