MORX Growout
I had supposed that MORX was a cross between Cherokee Green and White Current but now I know better! I had crossed some of the WC flowers with Black Cherry but lost track of them and though nothing of it. Last year I was suprised to see the dusky red/black fruit on one of my White Current and thought that it must be the cross.
Of course the cross would have been Yellow if it was CG x WC so my assumption was wrong. Now I did grow one of the CG x WC in a pot and it was Yellow. The seeds were isolated and I am sure it should be the cross at this point. Under the plant this year are about 30 volunteers. If they are half green and half yellow I know that it was indeed the one! Of the MORX growout so far I have: 2 Pink 2 Dusky Red/pink 1 orange/red 1 White/High Yellow 1 black 1 green The Black looks just like black cherry but is smaller and has great flavor. They are all good but I will have to wait till I can try many more to see what is best. Maybe I will ask Conan "What is good in life" and he will say "The Green Tomato" Greg Last edited by gflynn; July 7, 2010 at 12:14 PM. |
