Frustration
Here is the deal. I bought Giant Yellow toma seeds from Sand Hill Preservation Center and I cannot get them to come up. On the flip side I spread some compost out in the 'new' garden area that was not completely done...well I have easily over 500 tomatillo starts now.
I got some old verde seeds to come up, but not he Giant Yellow??? Also, has anyone tried this one: http://www.adaptiveseeds.com/node/28 |

Okay...so we are still raining in Northern California....a lot! I have three tomatillo plants that made it. One is a yellow, one is a verde and one is a purple.
I know that a tomatillo has to have a neighbor to pollinate, but there should not be any problems between the colors right? I do not really care if they cross. I just want some tomas this year. |

Edited to add, now that I think about it a microsecond more I assume that purple pollen fertilizing the ovules of a verde plant would give verde fruits, but since I've only grown on variety at a time I can't say for sure.

Thanks for the link to adaptiveseeds! I've found interesting varieties there, but shall order there only later this year. clara

I am good with that. I actually wanted two of each, but we had two inches of rain yesterday and it is not good for the tomas.
