Thelma Sanders Squash

Has anyone grown these.
I had a wild one grow up out of my irrigated hedge of Oleander.
I am not sure where it came from, but after many hours of searching I found a squash picture online that resembled what we had, and it was the Thema Sanders Squash. I am growing saved seed now, and they are coming up pretty nice.

I'm growing Thelma Sanders this year for the first time. According to The Compleat Squash it is a family heirloom from Thelma Sanders of Adair County Missouri. Seed was passed from neighbor Everett Petit to Tom Knoche and then to Glenn Drowns of Sand Hill Preservation.

It's not inconceivable that what you found is Thelma Sanders but, unless you've grown it at some point in the recent past, it's probably a look alike.

I have grown this one for many years and I agree it is highly unlikely to be a vounteer unless yiou have a neighbour who grew them . If a squirrel got into one it could have buried a few seeds in your patch, or ba bird could have deposited but again unlikely. What did you grow last year, if you tell me what you had that could have crossed I could probably tell you what cross it is.
