Grazon
Posting this because it is very important to big and small gardeners.
Grazon is the chemical you need to worry about as if we didn't have enough of them to worry about. It can be found in straw and hay and in any animal manure that has consumed the affected straw or hay. It can damage your garden for up to 10 years and is especially destructive to tomatoes and beans. From what I have read if the person responsible did not warn you of the danger they can be held legally responsible. But that would be for a court to decide. Been using wheat straw as mulch for fifteen years and luckily this year was the first time Grazon or 2-4-D (about the same thing) was devastating to the tomato crop. Be very careful when selecting straw or hay. Learned my lesson this year.

I amended my beds last year with cow manure that contained Grazon. It was not a good experience. So be careful what manure you use. If the cows ate hay grown in fields that used Grazon, it is passed along in the manure.

Sheezz !!! "Better living through chemistry" yeah sure. I been growing in ProMix for the last 5 yrs but I used to use straw for mulch when I was growing "in ground". What is our future for the hobbyist or small scale gardener ? It's scary.
