We picked two Stupice and two Sun gold on Saturday.

We all crowded around and split them evenly..it was the first Saturday of the month so they were testing the warning sirens. So here 5 of us are splitting 4 tiny tomatoes and oohhing and aaahing about how long its been since we had a good tomato all the while sirens are wailing in the background....It was like a scene out of 1940 England.

I'm sure glad i planted some early varieties till the big boys come in...then I'll have nothing but utter contempt for them....It was Duane that turned me into a tomato snob..truth be told.

Ha! Maybe they were sounding the sirens to alert the town that tomato season had officially begun.

hey bully,

how the heck are ya?

so far i have one little cherry tomato starting to blush, either galina or sun gold, i'll have to check. plants are starting to load up, but everything is running behind. didn't realize we would be bringing U.P. weather with us when we moved to the thumb.

Hey there, I'm in the same area. I've had Sungolds, Green Zebra, and a couple of Hillbillys so far. I'm about two days away from some Pink Ping Pong, ARGG, Cindy's WV and a fat Mariana's Peace. Kellogg's WV, Homer Fike and Hawaiian Pineapple geting their first light blushes.

Mine are all in containers and I wonder if that may lead to a slightly earlier maturation? It's nice to see us Michiganders finally enjoying some maters!

Bully-mon! Glad to see you poppin' on here! Good show 'ole man, good show! I am a Tomato-Snob and proud of it. I even have a hat that says that. Who was it give me that hat again? Hmmmmm.

Glad your season has started. So far I've picked a few Tom's Yellow Wonder, Sioux, Anna Russian, Indiana Red and Paul Robesons. Picked a Beauty King yesterday but gave it to Pat. So far Paul Robeson's have been the best tasting, but still early in the season.

Haven't had a Yellow Brandywine or Aunt Gerties Gold yet and those are usually the standard for taste (for me).

At least it's a good year for seeing which of the bigs have cool weather tolerance. The Yellow Brandywines have little to nothing set on four plants, I could probably just as well pull them for the year. KBX, on the other hand has many medium sized tomatoes, as does JD's Spec TX. I just ate my first ripe Azoychka today, and it was wonderful! But good old Stupice has given me about 6-7 so far. I think I detect a slight blush on one Aurora.
