Since it is a corn byproduct, it is safe for use around children, pets, and wildlife.
Safe around me? Thats new! Corn gluten meal is used as a lawn "pre-emergant" by the organic crowd. I have heard good things about it. I wanted to try it this year but never got to the feed store, maybe this fall. I would use plain CGM instead of the product mentioned. Cheaper I am sure, not surprised a company picked up on the benefits of a germinator suppressor. Wild "ah natural" Life |

I've used CGM. I got some from a friend who got a 50 lb. bag at a feed store for a fraction of the cost of the CGM packaged and sold as organic weed-n-feed. It worked very well for me in controlling weeds in the lawn and fertilizing the grass at the same time. It is best applied twice per year, in the spring when the daffodils and forsynthia are in bloom then in mid-August to kill summer germinating undesirables. You need to wait a few weeks before planting seeds of any kind after applying it. It prevents germinated seedlings from growing.

I have worked around corn gluten and if it starts to ferment you had better stand back because it stinks to high heaven. Maybe the smell kills the weeds.
