Buffalo-Niagara Tomato TasteFest This Weekend
Hi All,
I figure I would post here in case anyone has not ventured over to our forum or some needs a little road trip this weekend. (The much larger Chicken Wing Festival is also happening in Buffalo this weekend.) Here's a copy of general info for everyone. You can PM me for more: The party is Sat. Sept. 5th at 1:00 on Grand Island. It is rain or shine. Hopefully we have nice weather, but there is the cottage and covered areas in a case of inclement weather. It appears we are going to have nice weather! Meat(Yummy Meat-on-a-Stick, Salens hot dogs, etc.) will be provided. Bottled water, lemonade and ice tea, and coffee will be available.(all napkins, serving utensils, etc. too) We are asking people to bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to eat, but it is not required. Please let me know what you are planning to bring so other don't bring the same item. There is a full functional kitchen if you need to put something together once you get there. Bringing your own beer or wine is fine. If you have kids, there will be assorted toys and there is a swingset. There will definitely be children between the ages of 3-10 there to play with. If it is going to be hot out, bring a bathing suit for your kid, we will fill the kiddy pool. If your kid is older, there are trails in the wood behind the house to explore. Bring tomato varieties to taste. Two(more in the case of small tomatoes) of each variety is good, one for display, one for tasting, but if you only have a one that is fine!! In fact if you just have one tomato variety to bring that is fine. Remember it only take one to win : ) We will have contests for Best Tasting, Sweetest, Tangiest/Acidic, Biggest., Smallest, Prettiest and Ugliest too. Plates for display will be provided. Looking forward to the party, Remy

Hi Remy et al,
Since the above requested that we post what we are bringing.... As already mentioned, I plan to bring Baklava....some pickled hot peppers, Armenian-style Dill Pickles and some other pickles...whatever I find in the cold cellar, I guess. If I manage to find the time between now and Saturday, I may toss in some Armenian Dolmas, which are rolled, stuffed grape leaves - totally vegetarian. But with a wedding that I'm decorating/planning the day before, that may be pushing it. See you all there...if you're not there....ya schnooze, ya looze!!!! Trust me its worth the drive to Grand Island, N. Y. and dealing with the border....and no I am not bringing live plants this time...hehehe. But I will be bringing seeds to trade. Oh and Remy, I'll bring all the saved seeds from last year for those attendees that want some. I would suggest that they bring their own envelopes/bags for the seeds. And I'll volunteer to process the seeds again this year....but I'll be putting the fear of god into the cleaning lady! (And if you want to know that story, you have to go to Grand Island!) Zana |

Zana,
You know whatever you bring, I will love, except a live plant. Don't overdo it though, you there is good enough! See you Saturday! Remy
