My neighbor grew some and is going to share a few seeds with me so I can try it next year. I'm not sure what she thinks of it tho.
There is a post here at TV about how some that ordered the seed didn't get purple smudge. I think it's in the seed source area. Yup, check some of the posts on the last page here http://www.tomatoville.com/showthrea...021#post143021 Carol |

Here's a thread about it that was started last Spring at GW but recently updated. I don't think many folks are growing either Purple Smudge or Orange Fleshed Purple Smudge for taste, rather, for the supposed novelty of it. Comments at other sites where I post are all over the lot on both taste as well as appearance of those smudges.

I'm growing these next season, primarily for breeding purposes, but I will let you all know how they taste when grown in chilly old Blighty.

I grew Orange Fleshed Purple Smudge this year and was very impressed with the health and vigour of the plants. Very distintive looking plants and didn't have any disease problems. The fruit didn't really get the purple smudge as they ripened during our hottest time of year. As for the taste, I thought they were just so-so and sort of mealy......A person from our Farmer's market grew the regular purple smudge and she thought it was the best new vairety that she grew this year. I didn't get a chance to taste it..

I grew it. I've been working on my tomato descriptions so I do have it listed here with photos of the fruit and foliage.
http://sampleseeds.com/?page_id=65 It was interesting to grow. Will I grow it again? No. Remy PS If anyone sees anything that needs fixing in my descriptions so far, I would appreciate a PM.

I ordered it from Baker's and set out three plants. Two were pink and one was orange. All were mushy and thin-flavored this summer. Nice, healthy plants with good production, though. I saved seed for breeding purposes.
