Kentucky Pineapple..
I rec'd a tomato variety probably in the late 90's as Kentucky Pineapple. Never saved seeds until '09. I can't find anything other than one site saying "Pineapple" originated in Kentucky.......Has anyone else had a variety named as Kentucky Pineapple?? Should I leave the Kentucky out and just call it Pineapple but I do not know if it is the same as the other Pineapples........ Thanks, Patty
ps no way to contact sender but might be a Beth S. |

There are probably close to around 2000 or so gold/red bicolors listed in the SSE Yearbook and even if you grew out the variety Pineapple as well as your Kentucky Pineapple I don't think you could see a distinct difference since so many of the gold/re bicolors look alike and taste alike. I didn't do enough looking around to even be able to say that the variety Pineapple is a KY heirloom.

If Caroly doesn't know about it, its probably doesn't exist. But Gary or Maria might know something.

And since Gary and she correspond all the time about KY heirlooms I would think that what one knows the other one does as well.

Good point Carolyn, I did some corresponding with Gary yesterday and the next time I will ask him if he doesn't respond to this point.
