Default Strawberry Margarita

Has anyone grown it? I see a little info on the other sites, and would like more info, if possible. It dosen't look like it is popular, but the few reviews said it was very good.

Thanks!

I'm guessing Suze would be able to enlighten you. Found this gorgeous picture from a couple years ago when doing a search:

I see Marianna and Tatiana has it for sale....

but I'd like to know more before I purchase. I just accidentally fell upon it while searching "orange strawberry" and "german red strawberry." Up came this, and at first I thought it was a heart-shaped, but soon realized it was not.

I'm just curious....

Donna Marie, I jsut gave you the link to Tania's page with that variety where all the relevant info about the variety is given, and I'm sure Marianne Jones also has, but with her typical hype, aka adjectives used as well, which I love and she can't stop doing she tells me.

So what kind of information are you looking for that you can't find?

Carolyn, we must have posted at the same time because your post with the link wasn't there when I posted.

Yes, I saw both Marianna's and Tatiana's listing. However, I did not see where T said it was not up to her liking, so thanks for posting that.

In addition to any information you might get from Suze I can say that several folks list it in the SSE YEarbook and here's a link to Tania's T-base page for this variety. Actually she's the only one in her SSE listing show says the taste wasn't as good as she expected, but she also said it was a very rainy year.

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Strawberry_Margarita

Some of the pictures for this variety at Tania's site are from Suze.

Donna Marie, you can use Tania's T-base website to find out information for about 3,000 varieties, so it's a good one to keep in your faves.

When I first read the title I said, oh, I've grown that one but it was Isla Margarita that I'd grown.

I grew it last year and loved it, but for the life of me could not find my seeds this year - I thought it was a keeper. Good complex flavor and good production.

But she clearly said that the taste was probably not what it should be b;c of the cold and the rain, which she said at her webpage as well as her listing of it in the SSE YEarbook.

She['s just being honest, which I appreciate, and others have said they really liked the taste as several who list it in the yearbook said, as well as Robbins in a psot above.

Robbins! How could you ever admit in public that you couldn't find some seeds? Wanna fly up here and find for me three packs of seeds that I can't find?

Yes, Carolyn, I know she said it - I said I didn't see it, and that's why I thanked you for pointing it out to me.

The description just caught my attention. I wasn't looking for it - just the orange strawberry (which looks soooo pretty in your book and I was checking THAT ONE out when I saw the SM). I saw the strawberry margarita, liked the description, and just wanted others' opinions.

Happy to fly there where it is bound to be cooler than our present 98 to find your seeds if you'll roll on over here and find mine. And while you are here might you do a quick cleaning of this poor old dust filled farmhouse, cook up a few good meals (we are too tired to cook so with 14 acres of certified organic produce out the back door we are having cottage cheese and fruit evey night - though it is cottage cheese and tomatoes tonight since the fruit worms have given us some early ripes that we can't sell. How pathetic is that!) And possibly you could get all my paperwork in order for my annual organic inspection next week. And then there are a couple hundred acres of hay to cut and bale............ I swear I am ready for fall.

I do NOT:

Clean for others
Cook meals for others
do paperwork for others
cut nor bale hay for others.

So sorry.

I understand you have a bear that crosses a creek on your property. I had perhaps a very similar bear up here but it couldn't get across the creek that runs through my property.

So if you could put me down for some new bears that cross your creek that would be loveley. And I'll make it up to you when the snow flies.

We've been watching the bear but he's not yet crossed the creek this summer - surely soon. When he does I'll catch him and send your way. I'm guessing he'll love your creek too.

No cooking, cleaning etc - you are a disappointment!

Does anyone have Strawberry Margarita seeds left to share? None of mine came up this year, and I see none listed for sale (except in Europe).

TIA

Again:

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/S...b=General_Info

Tania has not yet updated all pages for 2015 but two seed sources for 2014 you should know well.

Also SSE Yearbook listed by several folks and one who got seeds from me in 2007 and it's a very late season variety, most saying quite a bit over 80 days.

Knowing where you live I'm also assuming that you aren't planning on growing it this summer b'c of the lateness.

I could ask a friend of mine who commented on Tania's page about it and also SSE lists it for seeds, but by the time I could set something up I know it would be too late for this season. And besides, I've already hit him up for two others for this season, different varieties, and I do want to remain friends with him since he's also one of my best seed producers for my seed offers here.

AS for Sam's SOO neither he nor I have sent out seeds older than two years old as I recall so there must be some problems in the way you were germinating some of your seeds for both SOO and SM to have not germinated as you noted above.

Carolyn, who hasn't a clue where her seeds of SM might be but seeing that the one person got seeds from her in 2007 they would be too old anyway. But now you know seeds for SM are not just available in Europe, as you said, but quite available here in the US as well and probably for 2015 if you were to go to the websites of both of those well known seed vendors mentioned at Tania;s page for the variety,

Plants available at the link below, not sure about the seeds. In general, I think if a seed is hard to come by then it is usually because it really isn't that great of a thing to begin with. The name sounds really flashy, but ... anyhow, let us know what you think of it when you get some to taste.
