60° today
The official high in Anchorage yesterday was 61° F and here where I live is predicted to be 59° for today and 60° in Anchorage.
No wonder my tomatoes aren't growing!!! |

Sherry, there is the other extreme too. Here every day has been 90 or above in July, on top of 90+ every day in June except 5 days....5+ degrees hotter than last year.....the good news is that two of my Fall transplants have set fruit anyway! The bad news is that all of my Spring plants were fried by July 4th. Heading to the mountains for some vacation in hopes of getting a night or two in the high 60s....

I think summer is just about over for us folks. Here on the North Slope it seems to be cooling off a little.
I havent seen many critters this year, it took forever to thaw out and I bet we get snow in August. (not that I havent seen it in July.) Worth |

we had rain and freezes until June.....no temps over 70 yet, but I work an hours east and we have been over 104 degrees. This winter work was 8 degrees. Tomatoes need to be hardy as do peppers. I am trying the Russian Healthy Pepper next year.
PS My best tomato plant this year is the Abe Lincoln seeds from RH Shumway. Tonight: Thursday: Thursday Night: Friday: 51°F 60°F 51°F 62°F |
