Default The inspector is watching.

I was trying to work on weighing and taking notes on some of the dwarf project tomatoes today, but our local inspector insisted upon parking himself exactly where I didn't want him to be.

"You gotta be kidding, you want to put tomatoes in this box?"

"What now? You want me to move again?"

The tomatoes in the background are Rosella purple, part of the dwarf project -- think of Cherokee purple suitable for pots.

A nice 15.3 oz surprise was this blushing Rosy F2, one of the newer dwarf project grow outs.

Lots of good stuff going on in the Dwarf forum, check it out!

Couldn't resist posting this picture of a Grosse Cotelee (not a dwarf, from Remy's seeds.)

How cute are those little bumps? From one view they remind me of eyes from some Disney sea creature, from another direction .... well .....

Hey, that cat ain't stupid. He's on the look out for tomato eating Rats. Got one at work who has been seen eating tomatoes at my surrogate garden. Normally he only eats one or two so I'm not overly concerned about it. By the way, nice maters you have there. Can you show us a picture of the plant that the Rosy F2 came off of. Ami

That Rosy sure looks nice. And I'm sure your cat thought the Hello Kitty notebook was meant for him!

Ami - I have two Rosy plants, both potted that are pretty much identical. I was growing them leaning up against a fence, and didn't tie them up very well. A very windy day plus the weight of the tomatoes pulled down Rosy 2 and I let it lay rather than prop it up and risk breaking branches. So this photo is of Rosy 1, which is very like Rosy 2 which the tomato came from. Have not yet posted latest Rosy updates and pics in the dwarf forum yet, but will in a day or two.

Sherry - I told my husband to buy me a cheap spiral school notebook for weight keeping purposes, and he came home with this cute Hello Kitty thing! I think he could have gotten 3 cheap ones for what he paid for it, but oh well. At least I'm not likely to lose it.

Major cool down happened in just the last few days. Days in the low to mid 60's and nights dropping to the 40's. I finally gave in and turned the furnace on last night. The tomatoes won't like it, that's for sure.

The Inspector is REALLY cute! He certainly seems to be doing his job even if it is hampering your ability to get your work done. Love the look of the tomatoes and have been wondering how long it takes before some of them get released. The plants themselves look so healthy even at this late date.
Weather down here in southeast WI has cooled off too and it has slowed things down some...I am ok with that because I am trying to keep up with a great harvest this year. So many tomatoes and so little time....

Oh what a teaser you are! Those Rosy's look really good.
Mine only got up to 14oz. this year, and were only avg. in taste.
I'll be very interested to hear your reports of these and how
they compare to the momma Dwarf Rosella Purple.

Please give the inspector some pets and kisses for me-he's very cute. He looks very much like my little cat, Mitzie, who loves boxes, too. Your tomato photos are beautiful; what a fun project that must be. Darlene

I love black cats. I had several of my own over the years. Nice looking tomatoes too.

Thanks for all the nice comments on tomatoes and cats! Short haired black cats just don't get No Respect!
Culpepper arrived on our back stairs as a pre-teen and just stayed on. He slept under our propane tank for a while until he took over in the house from our previous elderly cat. He can be a real goofball and even likes to hop off the dock onto my kayak and go for a short ride.

He decides when he wants to get on or off by jumping from my handy little kayak launching platform. Usually in about 10 minutes away from dry land, he lets me know he wants back.
