Default A few pictures

Just want to introduce myself, I like to grow heirloom tomatos as a hobby, for more yrs then I want to admit. I usually start and grow out about 50 varieties twice a yr. I grow in pine bark fines, perlite, and very little peat, Als mix. I made my own medium until I read about Als mix. It works very well here in Boynton Beach Fl. Ive been a silent reader here mostly, I post a little on another forum.
Ive always grown in large containers, with 30 gals being the smallest, Ive retired this yr and I think I can grow in smaller containers now that I have the time to stay ontop of feeding and watering. These are in 18 gal containers.

A few in 5-7 gal containers.

My little work area. I dont grow organicly, I use chemicals very sparingly tho, some plant outs none.

Coming in the gate.

I was gona show some other garden pictures, but I dont know how strick this forum is on pictures. Anywho thanks for looking.
Plant em if you got em.
Sam

A tumbling tom loaded with tomatos, I grow these for christmas presents, as its easy for people to take care of them. This plant has at least 50 matters on it. These are easy to grow and very disease resistant.

mdvcp, as far as fert gos I use a week solution of foliage pro, 9-3-6, at least once a week, when I mix the medium, I mix 50 gals at a time, I add 3 cups of dolimite, 6 cups of 8-10-10 slow release fert, and 2 cups of ebson salt. Depending on what I feel as far as the strenth and size of the seedling sometimes I add a small handful of slow release in the hole as im filling it up also.
Plant em if you got em.

Sam -very nice garden indeed! I'm too a huge fan of A1's 511 mix, its all I use in containers pretty much. I think growing in such a fast soil as the 511 really helps with flavor too. Everything I grew tomatowise in the 511 last year had better taste and flavor than any other method/media I treid.

Welcome, Sam, from across the pond! You can be happy having tomatoes now - my garden has disappeared under snow! Half of my plants are in containers, too. And I always have about 10 tumbling toms. clara
