Floridity?
Anyone tried this? Rave reviews from Europe on this elongated mini-plum F1. I ordered seed today.

Mark, I linked to Suttons in the UK so folks could see a picture but with a Google search, you're right, lots of rave reviews.

Seeds of Change has a couple of new cherry tomatoes that are worth looking at. I'm going to order Blush.

I've grown them the last two seasons and agree they are very good. Vigarous vines with large trusses, fruits are slightly firm and hold quite well when ripe. Lovely and sweet with plenty of flavour. Gorgeous eaten straight from the vine. Sorry can't help with how they do in warmer climes
Similar and also very good, Rosada F1, possibly my favorite of the two, http://www.thompson-morgan.com/veget...to-rosada/90TM |

JayC - I also ordered seed of Rosada F1. I wonder why these are only available in Britain? Darrel I also ordered Blush and Maglia Rosa, they sure look cool.

My Johnny's catalog came to day and I was surprised to see the variety Defiant Phr F1 listed which is from NCSU and has the same ph2 and ph3 genes that Mt Magic has but the fruit size is much larger.
Yes, they also list MM but don't say much about disease resistance but do think well of it. And several new F1 cherries as well. I'm happy with the cherries I have now, OP, so won't be buying them, but if I don't buy something I won't be sent the catalog much longer, so I'll get my fave Cousa squash type, Magda F1 and some other stuff that I would normally grow. And hope for a decent season next summer. Three bad ones in a row are BAD.

I had to LOL at that comment, half of the tomatoes featured at Tomatoville and similar websites are not available in Britain; makes a change for the shoe to be on the other foot for once.
Floridity is one I want to grow but I don't think I can fit it in till 2012 because I have imported lots of seed from USA (Brad Gates) and Canada (Tania) for 2011. Here is a link to the pdf of the RHS taste test, with the chef Raymond Blanc, that rated Floridity very highly, for the benefit of any who have not seen it: http://www.rhs.org.uk/RHSWebsite/fil...72df79c832.pdf Also, many of the UK seed sites state it is a high lycopene tomato; maybe it has the crimson gene for them to make that claim? If anyone has any more information in this respect to confirm one way or the other please let us know. |

I received a package of 250 Blush seed today. It was backordered a week ago but seems to be available now.

Doesn't this belong in the "Fad" thread? Probably some re-named tomato. And the story about the 8-year-old coming up with the cross? I smell Syngenta. Should have called it Rosso Blusho.

Where is Floridity for sale? The reviews are glowing...
I am not up on all the red elongate plum cherries out there, but we grew one for Seeds of Change this past summer and it was quite excellent -- Capriccio F1 If I wasn't so wrapped up in my own cherry tomatoes, I would grow this one. Well, maybe I will grow a few plants side by side with Floridity. Our main red cherry (at least I think it's a cherry) is Principe Borghese. That's because it has excellent flavor when dried. The only tomato we eat all winter is Principe Borghese. We dry them and freeze them. Then every week or two in the winter we pull a few out of the freezer and throw them in some herb infused olive oil in the refrigerator. Great for adding to winter pasta dishes. |

Sounds good. Can I send Capriccio and Principe Borghese in return?
