Amana Orange vs KBX vs kellogg's breakfast
What say ye?
For those who have grown these how would you contrast production and flavor? Thanks, QWen |

I cannot compare having only grown KBX. But I cannot imagine the other two being better unless they happen to be earlier and tastier. KBX is worth the wait, productive late in the season, tolerant to heat, large and meaty, perfect for most uses, and beautiful to behold.

My Cousin lives in the Sacramento Valley (near Redding) and she grows the KBX (she is always trying to get me to plant it.) She has EXTEMLY hot weather from June to September and she too says that KBX handles the heat well. I don't know about the other two varieties. She can gets temps near 120 (hotter than the desert and more humid.) I have seen others on this forum talk about how much they like Kellogs.

I started griwing Amana Orange before KB ever made an appearance and once I grew KB I dropped Amana Orange and when KBX was found by Martha H. I grew just KBX, same for me as KB but PL varieties seem to do much better for me.
So I see KB and KBX as being equivalent in production, taste, etc, except for leaf form and would never go back to Amana Orange again. And of late for a large orange I'd put Orange Minsk right up there with KB/KBX.
