Default Spain's annual tomato fight

http://news.yahoo.com/photos/spain-s...252-slideshow/

Do they realize how much effort we gardeners put into growing just a few bushels?! While it looks like fun, if I was there I think I'd be filling buckets and taking them home to make sauce & salsa!

Yeah, I was just wondering last week if anyone knows what variety(s) they are chucking. I have also heard that most of them are rotten. Gross!

When we were kids we had an annual rotten tomato war ranging across four backyards. We did this after the first real frost and of course with permission. Our moms did not really like the event but would hose us off with really cold water and then we could come inside. Ah, those were the days - nothing like a rotten tomato to the head! piegirl

Gross would be seeing someone in a chef's hat scooping up the tomatoes...

...drum roll...

...a few days later.

piegirl- that is Awesome! but gross.

I was just imagining all of the OCD Seed Savers watching this event with eye twitches and checking prices for plane tickets to Spain.
