Mealy tomatoes, good for sauce?
I think that I overwatered some of my container tomatoes. I'm really upset about this, as the texture of the tomatoes is quite mealy and mushy.
However, can I salvage these tomatoes by making sauce with them? I'm thinking that the texture won't show itself in a sauce as it does when eating them fresh. Thanks, Nate |

last september and october i used terrible tomatoes for sauce and it was excellent! mealy, many had rotten spots and some were not sour but tasted bad. i was shocked at how good it was, even better than what i made from tomato puree. it made 12 pints. i say use them.

I'd say there is not much else to do with tomatoes like that. Go for it.
