Custom seed envelopes

So, I was just making my own template for DIY seed envelopes, and I decided that the rest of you might enjoy these.. so I'm sharing here

First attachment is just one pack, in .PNG graphic form
Second attachment is a PDF including 6 of them on one page.

Just wondering, what kind of paper do you use to make these? Just regular copy paper?

Right now, just plain old copy paper. I'm thinking about getting some heavier-weight stuff to do it the next time I print up a batch of them, but it's not really that important. The plain 20- to 24-lb stuff works fine.

Where did I see that picture before, the tomatoes surrounded by basil leaves? Did that come from a seed catalog like Totally Tomatoes or Burpee?

At the risk of sounding like a party-pooper, I have to wonder when I see so many seed pack designs that are just pretty vegetables or flowers. I would love to see somebody market one full of information. At least have it so you check little boxes to indicate the variables after you write in what the plant name is. Things like Days to maturity, fruit size and color, shape. Planting depth, germination temp. Plant height/width or spacing needed. ph preferred if unusual. Water requirements, days to bloom if a flower.fert needs. Bugs likely to attract. There must be more facts that would be nice to have. Maybe this will all fit on the front and the nice pic on the back?

Rockhound, that's a great idea. I use little 2x3 clear plastic ziplocks for the seeds that I save, and I write all the pertinent info. on them in sharpie.

So far, I just write name, type, year saved and whether they are OP or bagged. But it would be better if I added some of the info you mentioned.

I always think I will remember that kind of stuff, but after a couple of years, it's easy to forget.

Walmart in the arts and crafts section (cheapest, but those dont have the writable white strip), and Staples in the stationary section (not as cheap, but have the writable white strip).

I think your idea would be overkill for most of us that do seed trading and not seed selling. Getting free seeds is a wonderful opportunity, and most traders do research and are aware of the characteristics of the tomato seeds that they plan to request.

While a few things like mid-early-late designation, color, and expected size might be helpful, the rest of the growing info you cited is pretty much the same for all tomatoes. I don't think you can expect a textbook of information on the tiny 2"x3" packets most people pack in, or you might need a microscope to read it all!

If you were just thinking of this in relationship to larger seed packs sold by big companies to all levels of gardeners, then yes, that information is very helpful, and many companies do it.
