Spinosid safe to spray on young tomatoes?
I have tomatoes planted two weeks ago, in earthtainer. Noticed a few leaves getting nibbled. Safe to apply Captain Jacks dead bug this early? If so early morning or late evening app time.
Thanks for help Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk 2 |

Hi. I'm new, so this message may not reach you for a while. I used spinosad, specifically Captain Jacks, on all my vegetables, including tomatoes, last summer and believe it worked very well against several different pests. I didn't experience any damage to my plants. It may hurt bees who visit flowers when it is still wet, so I didn't use it until late in the day. Also, I have had several bad experiences using any pesticide during the day, like burning foliage, so I always wait until the hour before sundown.

Thanks for your experience, I'll heed your advice. Didn't know about bees, I will definitely wait until late evening.

Most pesticides, even organics, have some impact on bees. Spinosad is considered safer than most others once it has dried, so you want to use it when they aren't visiting flowers.

Captain Jack's states right on the label that it will kill bees. I brought it back to the store when I read it.
