The Right Temperature To Eat A Tomato.
I keep my house at 70 or so in the day time and 65 at night.
This is the temperature my tomatoes are. When you bite into them there is this rush of coolness, juice and flavor that is overwhelming. I have this pile of Riesentraube tomatoes here that is quickly deminishing. What temp do you guys eat them? Don't tell me you refrigerate your tomatoes. Worth |

I think a tomato has the best flavor when it is picked "vine ripe"... "ripe" for me this is just a little bit of green shoulders on a firm red tom in 75-85 degree weather.
Otherwise room temp will have to suffice. |

Roast them and then freeze them, they are perfect for throwing into some sauce or making sauce with them.

We keep the house at 80-82 F in the summer, so that's the temp at which we eat fresh, raw tomatoes.
I eat fruit at room temperature as well, for the most part. A cold piece of fruit might feel refreshing in hot weather, but you lose a lot of flavor when fruit is at refrigerator temperatures.

I would have to guess that I like them best at about 85 degrees or so... while standing in the garden. It does bring out the flavor I think.
