One of Tom Wagner's varieties, with striped long beautiful GWR fruits on indeterminate vines, sweet, meaty and very tasty. First two pictures are from last year, the third from this. No ripe fruits yet, but hopefully soon

Those sure are some eye appealing fruits. It sounds like they taste a bit better than their cousin, Green Zebra, too. Please let us know if this season's crop tastes just as good.

Thank you, yes they were good, I liked them a lot

Fruit size and shape is still a little variable and quite fun to have variegated foliage on one plant too.

In the early 90's I trialed 22 varieties for Tom, and that one looks very close to his Chile Verde which was one that I trialed.

These have a growth habit like a heart. It always looks like it is just about to die. The ones I grew were not really sweet at all. Could be a climate thing, but I didn't care much for the taste. They are very prolific as long as the weather is somewhat cool. I consider this one more "novel" than useful. I never could figure out what to do with it. However, it is quite popular and I am about out of them.

That's interesting, I've grown Chile Verde but not for a few years. I remember them as a bit more boxy and a tad lumpy. Perhaps I'll give them a whirl this year.

Chile Verde was more boxy, I agree, another one I trialed was Saucy Green.

Tom asked me not to share the seeds with others, other than with Craig L, and I didn't, but then I saw Casady's Folly and the two Brandystripe ones and Xmas, and some others being offered here and there and juut sighed.

Of all the ones I tried I loved Verde Claro the best and I think that too is being offered somewhere but I didn't check.

I doubt that he lists either one b'c while visually beautiful, one on PL and one on Angora PL, they did not taste good at all and he knew it. Which is why he back crossed one of them to Brandywine to hopefully get some taste in.

He sent seeds of that cross to Tania, but I'm confused by the F1 Brandystripe since what I was sent was the stabilized OP's.

And I'm sure he told Tania not to share seeds since no sources are given.

Best to look at Tom's site to be sure he isn't listing for sale any kind of Brandystripe.

But from the original accidental X pollination between Brandywine and Tad, from which Lucky Cross and Little came, there are others that have come from growouts and include Striped Sweetheart, developed by Lee as well as a new one from Lee called Don's Double Delight, which is also striped which I'll be offering in my upcoming seed offer. Just the last one b'c the Striped Sweetheart is already out there, the Don's one is not.
