Default Carolyn's Seed Offer Update

I think this Forum is the best one to share with you what's happening with the SASE's that have been sent in to date b/c it will reach the most folks here at Tville.

I'm so behind it's ridiculous, but there are reasons for it, and that's being distracted with problems both online and here locally.

Problems with my main heating system, still to be diagnosed, I have to call Rick tonight and hold a phone to the sounds it makes when on high burner b'c my voice imitation of my Monitor, computer controlled, he couldn't diagnose from my voice. And not all backup baseboard electric heat units are working and the working ones I didn't need unless the main heat went out.

The second backup is a wonderful German Weso woodstove in the front room but I can't operate it now b'c my walker won't allow me to do that b/c of access problems

It is frigid here and temps going way below zero for the next few nights.

Lots of e-mailing and phone calls as well. One SSE member is scamming others pretending to be a listed member, using an SSE code that was never released, his request form was the 2012 one which expired on Dec, 31, 2012, wrong money sent, etc. His request form was xeroxed so I knew he was probably scamming others, and sure enough one popped up already. So lots of interaction with Joanne at SSE about this already confirming my suspicions about him, etc.

Then several folks requesting seeds from the Online SSE, and I requested that they be sent ONLY with the 2013 form, by mail, but I've gotten several on the 2012 form, so have to deal with that as well. Some requesting varieties from the 2012 Yearbook as well as the 2013 Online at the same time. Still have to deal with those but not all gave contact info so that means interacting with Joanne at SSE again.

This is the first year that ALL SSE listings go on the ONline first and then the paper Yearbook is printed from that, and I'm galdJoanne told me that and I posted it here as well.

It's cold in the back room where I pack seeds. Yes, I have an electric heater there, yes, there's a fan in the hallway that shoots heat from the front room but heat can't make two acute right hand turns.

Then someone locally, very much loved by many, passed away, his wife's family wrote the obit and initially left out his daughter and step children. The Funeral Director had no idea they were his. Left out his former wife, who is someone I've known for a long time, in the newer version of the obit she was left out as well, but I found out she didn't want her name in there. Lots of gossip, fact, and stuff relating to that.

IF there's a perfect family somewhere that would be great, but to date I haven't met up with one and the acrimony in this family is beyond belief.

Last year I put up the seed offer on about the same date, closed it later this year b'c I know that quite a few didn't want to abide by the four guidelines I requested and had reached the max limit I'd set for this offer, so envelopes back to me later and now all these diversions.

Last year I worked almost all day and night and got all 500 plus packs sent out by Feb 1. Never again.

I'm sorry but that isn't going to happen this year by Feb 1.

Carolyn, and for those who know me well, NO, I haven't been able to watch more than about an hour of tennis/day from the Australian Open and so wanted to watch Serena play Sloane Stephens last night, but no way.

Hope you get your heat fixed soon, not being able to get to the wood stove worries me. It's been below zero here for the past few days when I take the kids to school.

Take care of the important things, the seeds will wait!

Oh Carolyn, please try not to stress over the seeds. We will get them when we get them. No problem.

I hope you have an electric blanket as you are getting the weather we had the last few days. I haven't had so many blankets on my bed in years.

Cuddly up with your cats and some blankets and enjoy the tennis. Everything else can wait.

Do want you can as you can as you can. Any body that requested seed from you should have known what the situation is. If they are mad about it the worst they can do is not ask again next year if you decide to do this again. Staying warm is the first priority this week. Funerals happen when they happen and they always bring the best out in families. Take care of yourself and watch some tennis. The seeds will still be there when the Australian Open is over.

Heck, I'm in no hurry. I can't even plant them until April, for goodness' sake. So relax, prioritize, enjoy life first, take care of the important stuff, and don't worry about the seeds. They'll keep. I'll love them just as much whenever they get here, and I will appreciate you and your efforts just as much, too.

No worries on late seeds, take your time and get your heat in order first. Definitely take some time out for tennis and some fine dark chocolate. :-D

Carolyn,
Please know we are all grateful for all you do..

Heat is a basic, especially as the cold comes in....we can all relate to that and appreciate that you would even think to comment here...

Whenever it gets to the top of the list....we will all be thankful...
Please take care of yourself first !!

Carolyn, whatever you do, stay warm and don't stress- especially about seeds! The electric blanket is a great idea. After heat, I think that tennis should be one of your priorities- the Australian Open comes but once a year.

Carolyn, Please don't stress about getting the seeds out. None of us wants you put in harms way. The seeds are nice, but not life shattering if we don't get them for awhile. It would be life shattering if you suffer on account of getting them out before you are well equipped to do so.
Please take care of you first.

Its very cold here as well. DO NOT USE THOSE LITTLE HAND WARMERS to warm your feet !!! I had a friend put those packs in a pair of socks while asleep, and ended up with 3rd degree burns. To make matters worse, this injury was to a diabetic. Sorry to hear of the other situations.
Seeds should be a source of De-stressing, not stressing! - L.

OK I am losing it. I spelled "matters' as "maters" above.
