Does anyone know the history of this tomato?

Carolyn will be able to give more info probably, but I understand it was bred by Vince Sapp, husband of Linda Sapp, who owns TGS. Vince passed away recently.

Yes, it was bred by Vince Sapp.

More inportantly, there's been another black cherry listed in the SSE Yearbooks for many years called Black Sweet.

I asked Linda if that was the starting point or included somewhere along the line and she said no it wasn't.

I tried growing Black Sweet in 2003 but the seeds sent to me were wrong. If it were a great variety there would be lots more folks relisting it, but there isn't.

Same with the variety called Green Cherry from John Smarz in Australia. How does it compare with Green Grape? it doesn't for me and several others I know who have grown it.

SSE also has a brown berry-imho, its vastly inferior to black cherry.
