Where to put them after pot-up??

Where do you guys usually put them after pot-up? I've read in the garage, but it's too cool out there?

Do they like a warmer temps? What will the cooler temps do for them? If anything..

I usually keep them inside until it's time to go outside, but when I moved, I kind of inherited a CAT!!! I've been warned that the beast will eat them if given the chance and I don't have a table tall enough or big enough.

Plus SHE will not like the Fish Emulsion smell. I used to keep them in another room but again, I don't have the room any more.

Whatcha think? safe in the garage for a few weeks??

My cat never bothers with the tomatoes, but will eat other houseplants and is especially fond of pepper plants, any variety. I keep my toms on racks with nothing adjacent to them that could help the cat to leap.
I thought cooler temps will slow down the plant's growth and that is not necessarily bad. However, I would think you would want to avoid temps in the low below 50.

Anything that made of stone would be a good place. Generally it warmer there than the surrounding area and it also protects against wind. Make sure that spot gets sun though.

I think your garage would be a good spot. I use my laundry room, which is between my house and my garage. It is unheated and there is no A/C in there. The cooler temps help keep the plants stocky. If too warm, they get leggy, even with grow lights. If it gets warm outside, then your garage will warm up, too, in which case you may need to run a fan gently on them to help the stems strengthen up.

I try to keep my plants at 60-62 deg or lower. I open a window if i have to. My plants are usually short and fat, 10" tall at 8 weeks.
There's another recent thread on here kind of covering this same thing, but i couldn't find it. It had some good information in it.

I have them under lights and will move them into the garage. Should be good there I hope. If i see VERY slow growth over the next couple weeks, I'll try to move them somewhere where the beast won't get to them!! lol

I've germinated 24 seeds in a cupboard above my hot water tank at about 22c or 74f. Here in UK outside temps 5 to 12c. too cold for toms. If I transfer them to a heated cold frame at about 18c
is this too warm? Will they get too leggy?
I'm a complete novice and relly appreciate any help.

I keep my plants under lights till about 2inches tall. I then move them to a coldframe with glass top outside on southside of house. Plants will do fine at temps above 40 degreesF. Lookup thread here on coldtreatment. Growing slow and stocky is good. I open the top when temps are above 50F and close at night. You said yours is a heated coldframe so I think you have no problem with them freezing but might get too hot in daytime with sunshine plus heat. Open the top when temps get above 60 degrees and bright sunshine.

After I pot up I set them outside in a plastic tomato green house that I set up against the south-west side of the house until I am ready to plant in their permanent location. The first picture was the seedlings prior to pot-up taken 27-04-13. They were potted up the next day and set in the Tomato Green house. The seed was originally planted 03-04-13.

The rest of the pictures were taken 08-05-13 in the tomato green house. I would close the door and side vents in the evening and would open them the next morning.
What the plants are setting on is a small hydroponic NFT grow unit I never used and being a reservoir/growing channel worked perfect for my seedlings.

I filled up the reservoir about half way to help anchor the greenhouse as it was setting on the bottom supports. The seedlings were set in the grow channel and any runoff from the plants when I water goes back into the reservoir. It will support about 40 seedlings in 4" pots. Being made of fiberglass it will last a long time.

The greenhouse is not that expensive maybe 30-40 dollars and can be taken down and stored till the next season.

After potting up,couple days under the lights in a cool garage and then I do cold treatment, usually for two weeks. From there, I take them outside when temps are 55+, otherwise under lights in garage.

I have a portable walk in greenhouse that I erect at the back of my driveway near the back door of the house. I move the plants to the greenhouse during cooler spring days and depending on nighttime lows I will either leave them in the greenhouse with the vents and door closed overnight or I will move them inside into the house if it is expected to drop below freezing.

They seem to be fine in the cool garage so far. Even though it's been a little chilly this past few weeks. It should help them adjust to the temps when I get them outside.
Potted up a little over a week ago and have been giving them fish emulsion at about half strength.

How were your plants that you had moved to the garage? Do you know the range the temperatures in the garage for these three weeks?
