First day outside
The kids took their first trips outside this weekend. So far so good.
Now I have to go out and put them all in for the night!

Right away I knew I had to show this to DH- it just makes me look so less crazy!
You certainly have a lot more patience than I do to be willing to make that many trips in and out every day. They look great! kath |

I don't have nearly that much space Taterhater. I give many plants away each year to friends. family and co-workers. The weather is dipping into the mid and upper thirties at night. Highs of 58 to 68. (That's OK. My spinach likes it that way!) It takes awhile to move them. Right now they are short and I can carry two flats at a time. That will end soon as they get taller than the craft sticks.
I have the following varieties going... Supersweet 100 F1 Sungold F1 Stupice New Girl F1 Super Sauce – A Burpee "Hybrid" (F1 not stated) Polish Linguisa Big Beef F1 Pruden's Purple Big Daddy – A Burpee "Hybrid" (not stated as F1) Bulgarian Old Sort No Name Chocolate Stripe Homestead Jubilee Cherokee Purple KBX Steakhouse – A Burpee "Hybrid" (not stated as F1) Speckled Roman Anna Maria's Heart Anna Russian Cherokee Green Sweet Ozark Orange

So far I've gotten wood chips.. schlepped those across the yard to various spots that need help (Idaho is very alkaline soil) planted a few starts... REMOVING rock mulch the previous owner put down (I wish he were around... I'd poke him in the eye) ... and preparing as best as I can. |

Of those how many do you plan to actually put in the ground? Love the Eastern shore. Growing conditions are so much better than here in the burbs, especially the soil.

I'll probably be putting out about 40 plants. These will be in raised beds with 1 part mushroom compost, 1 part compost and 1 part topsoil.

A lovely sight, George. And one that's very familiar to my neighbours. At least yours are on a table, I need to bend over to set them down and then pick up from the driveway. Have a few wire shelf carts which helps, but not nearly enough for the entire output. We appear to be a full month behind you.
What Kath said - I always show such pictures to my husband, just so he knows I'm not the only one...

We're behind in weather here ourselves. My peach trees are just now starting to bloom which makes them about two weeks late....

Leaving them out now...
With the mild weather we're having I am leaving them out overnight now. I'm glad, the daily treks were getting tiring...

WOW! that's so ambitious! Can I ask where does one get mushroom compost? and also how long do you leave your babies outside in the sun?
