BioDomes
I use these with great success and ease of transplant. Anybody else tried?

I imagine you use these indoors? How do you go about hardening them off before transplant?
Also do these work for tomatos? I can't imagine them all fitting under the 'dome' if all those plug holes are used... |

Take the lid off when most have germinated. Remove heat mat when only one or two have not germinated. Harden about a week prior to planting by moving the tray outdoors. I start with a couple of hours and gradually increase. Did that today, but as the seedlings had gotten large a bit early I had already placed the sponges in red solo cups with some potting soil and placed in a larger tray. I like everything about it except they keep you buying their fairly expensive planting sponges.
I guess one could just use a mix and it would work. |

If you google you can find a guy who uses 5"X 5" squares of brown paper - less thick than old grocery bags, and places them around a sawed off souvenir baseball bat and puts them in the holes, then fills with potting mix and uses the foam and the tray and the lid to good avail. The sponges are not all that expensive and work great for tomatoes (and Zinnias!).
