My first catalog
I have been waiting and waiting and I finally got one. Pinetree Seeds came yesterday. They have the usual fare, but have a new hybrid they "claim" has a good main season taste, even thought it's Early. The catalog is upstairs and I don't remember the name, but it's on page 25. They call it "compact determinate". Any guess to the size of plant???

I think it's called "Polfast." I checked online, and all the info on it appears to be in Polish, so I assume Pinetree got it from a Polish seed company.
Can't tell anything about the plant beyond what Dick Meiners says about it in his catalog copy. Sure would be nice if it were as good as advertised. =gregg= |

No link, but here's what p. 25 of the new Pinetree catalog sez:
"POLFAST" 54 days "For decades we have been looking for an extremely early tomato that sets fruit in cool weather and also tastes good. Polfast may be the one. Most of the alternatives either are flavorless or have a decent flavor coupled with skin that is so thick that you have to spit it out. The compact determinate plants produce round smooth fruit that have an excellent dark red color inside and out. Small but hardly tiny, Polfast tomatoes run between 3 1/2 and 6 ounces. Flavor is similar to good midseason tomatoes, sweet and just a bit acidic. 54 days." I vote we declare "POLFAST" the all-time dumbest name for a tomato, though........ 8) =gregg= |

The 2007 Seed Savers Exchange catalog came to my home address yesterday! I'll have to check my PO Box for others today.

I'm really unhappy I haven't gotten any catalogs yet. I 'm going through the symptoms of catalog withdrawal. I keep trying to look through the old ones but it just isn't the same.

Johnny's Selected Seeds catalog arrived yesterday. Lots of stuff but not a lot of tomatoes. It says "2006" catalog. Is it the catalog from last year.
