Congrats, Scott! I've got a ways to go yet. Carolyn's Sen-Say looks to be in the lead here unless a later setting fruit overtakes that one and ripens first. That first one is always so exciting.

There are few things better than that first bite of the year! Congratulations... and ENJOY!
While I have a lot of new fruit still in the ripening stage, it seems to be taking forever. Too, maybe due to the heat and humidity, I'm not seeing a lot of new blossoms. I was careful not to add too much nitrogen, but with all of the rain of the past month combined with daily highs in the 90s and high humidity, there is a ton of new foliage growth. Maybe they are too healthy and just don't feel the need to send out new blossoms. They are already over four feet tall with heavy fruit set around the lower two feet. |

Congrats! I set mine out the first week in February and have been eating them for about 6 weeks now.... :-). This is my first year growing so we have been eating them like crazy and today for the first time, I don't want another tomato for a while... lol. Had a grilled sungold and cheese sandwich for breakfast.
Here are some we picked today. Thankfully our neighbors are eating a lot of them. It's been fun to share. Congrats again on your first one and many more to come!! Ginny |

Congratulations. I'm still waiting for the first blush which I still haven't seen. This starting late is killing me. I'm used to having the first ones in late May. Maybe one of the hybrids that I am using as rootstock will ripen one soon. They were set out a little earlier than the grafts which were out in the garden over a month late.

Independence Day is in the lead, here. I'm guessing it will come in a few days ahead of its name.

Already had Cherokee Purple, Cherokee Green and several of the Wild Boar tomatoes ripen. Really impressed with Pink Berkeley Tie Dye. I've had some one pound plus Stump of The World.

Scott, You know the rules here!
No photo = didn't happen! Congrats on getting the first ripe one of the season. I'm hoping mine will ripen up before next Tuesday. Lee

Dang it, already ate it. But I would not post a pic of a two ounce tomato. Not manly enough.

I know how to grow tomatoes but don't know how to load pictures. I'll be at Collin County Farmers Market Saturday morning in Plano , Tx if anyone wants to see some pretty tomatoes.

Checked my toms this morning and saw two blushing fruit both on the hybrid rootstock varieties I planted earlier than my grafts. One is on a BHN 640 and the other is on a Crista. I don't know if either is very tasty but they should be better than the ones available at the grocery store. It will be a few days before either is anywhere near ripe; but at least I know I'm in the game finally.

Luckily, I'm not a man , so here's a pic of my little cherry Sungolds that I picked yesterday and I can't wait to eat them! They were started in February! Linda Last edited by Labradors2; June 11, 2014 at 12:55 PM. Reason: added quote for clarity |
