First Tomato of the year - Pineapple
I got this tomato to set before the plant was in the ground.
Came in at 1lb 9 oz. Picked it Sunday night and it needed a few more days of ripening, so I managed to wait until Wednesday. Most excellent on an onion roll with thin sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and homemade mayo. I ate 2 of them.... |

Last year Pineapple was my first tomato. This year my poor Pineapple plant hasn't set one fruit. Of 70 plants, it is the only one not to produce. Go figure.....

I am convinced the real early flower and set contributed to the size. This tomato was growing along with the plant with no competition from any other fruit. Still a week or so away before they really start rolling in!

And this is why I think folks who pick off early blossoms are crazy
Nice one! Karen |

If it cost me some plant production over the rest of the season - it was still worth it!!
