Can I determine the mystery parent

Last year I planted some brandywine Sudduth's seeds from a well known source, and one of the plants just did not look quite as pink as others, but very close, the taste was outstanding.
I saved seed, and planted a few of them this year, and got 3 (RL) and 1 (PL). One (RL) got killed, one has bright orange heart-ish looking tomatoes that are ok, the other (RL) has bright pink, very, very tasty tomatoes, the PL has bright red, very good tomatoes.
What throws me is the parent mom was (PL) last year, the F1.s of a cross on my end would have been all (RL), and a (PL) selection on the vendors part would not have thrown so many (RL) out of my saved seed.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at with this, so I could not think of a better place to find out, if it can be done. What color could the cross have been, and how far back was it?
Sorry if my explanation is jibberish, Oh... I do not grow any varieties that match the mystery fruits.

I say your paler pink tomato that didn't match you normal Brandywines from last year was an F1 cross so the seed you saved was F2 and that would explain the segregation and the regular leaf and potato leaf plants this year. My guess is the other parent is red but that is supposing that the seed you planted last year was actually a brandywine cross... don't think you'll ever know Mark but you have a year head start to stabilize that one you like

I thought maybe so too, but also thought they would have had to have chose a (RL) selection for me to get the ratio I got, and that would not make sense on their part, and my plant last year was a (PL) which is recessive, and should not come out in a F1, so I thought.
Your right, I have already saved seed from the (PL) red, and the (RL) pink. Fun at any rate, thanks Karen,

Wouldn't an F1 come out PL if both parents were PL?

Mark, I think this could be explained if the paler pink PL mom was an F1 cross with another PL, and if there was a cross between that F1 mom and an RL parent when you grew it out.
