I got seeds for black amber
yesterday I got seeds ( a gift package in a swap) for a tomato called Black Amber. Never heard about it before. So I asked the sender to give me details.
Thats what he gave me: 22 kg for one plant! 38 fruits. and an excellent flavor this one is for sure on my growing list! such a pretty and productive tomato.... |

He kinda looks as if he KNOWS his tomatoes, and that plant looks GREAT!
I hope you will save lots of seeds and share them in Gary's swap next year . Linda |

That is one serious guy, with one serious tomato plant! I can't help, but to think you are very lucky to get those seeds! Lorri D |

Those are indeed impressive! His support structure is interesting, too. It looks like he's growing the monster plant on one stake.

Where's the foliage. In my climate, all the fruit would be sunburned in August. And I bet there'd be a lot more flavor and sugars if the plant were more fully foliaged.

you can see leaves here and there but the stem is bent down and so much loaded that some leaves may be broke also. On the stem going upwards there are leaves also. Our climate is not so hot so there is no problem with sunburn.
He says the flavor is excellent, (even without too many leaves.) |

He is using the tomatoes on the top as leaves to shade the ones below.

If you go to the trade Forum you'll see that I just updated the thread I started to say that I need gall bladder surgery somewhat ASAP. The details are in the trade Forum. Yes, I'm still home, feeling OK right now but when my MD called me early this AM to give me the results of tests that were done yesterday she said ASAP and then said if any symptoms appear call 911 right away. So I've spent today trying to contact the folks that will keep my home and old cat safely. This all started about Jan 1 which is why you haven't seen me posting much. Carolyn
