Default Bloody Mary juice mix

So I hear from some old-timers in the area that if you want a good home-made tomato juice for use in bloody marys, it is highly recommended to use about 20% of the weight in paste tomatoes (such as san marzano). In other words if you a mixing a batch calling for 10 lbs of tomatoes, you should use 2 lbs of San Marzano or Roma types and 8 lbs of other nice juicers, like Rutgers or Brandywines.
They say by doing this it keeps the juice consistent and fresh while the alcohol melts the ice into water.
This is what I was told ... wife's tale, fishing story, etc... or not. Has anyone heard anything else related to this?

Sounds really good.

I was thinking about a bloody Mary with 1 part Potters Vodka, 1 part Black Krim, 1 part Sungold, with cilantro and lime...and of course, AlittleSalt.

Good tasting tomato for Bloody Mary ? HMMM
After a shot or two of Vodka, hot pepper, salt , ... can you still taste how the tomato tastes ? Not me. Alcohol blinds my judgement .

There is a local farmer (more like small purveyor with a big garden) who sells bloody mary mix made with heirloom tomatoes. It comes in the large canning jar and its sells for about $15! Its soooo good though. That would be a great farm product to sell for those with a tomato farm!? They also sell it wholesale....

I guess that I am just cheap! Campbell's tomato juice, Crystal hot sauce, worchestershire, celery salt, Tito's vodka, and a celery stalk. Couple of those and I am good!

Chrystal hot sauce is the bomb.
Made from cayenne peppers.
One of the best kept Louisiana secrets out there.
You cant beat the price either.
Lets not advertize any more so the price will stay down.
We dont want to start a nation wide fad like what happened to to Mcilhenny Tabasco sauce.

Gotcha Worth, I won't tell anybody else! Lol. The same goes for Tito's Handmade Vodka from Austin, TX. We will keep it a secret!

I never cared too much for Crystal hot sauce (on anything).
Plain old minced horseradish and Cayenne powder is a much better spice mix (IMO).
Tito's is not such a secret, but it is harder to get the further north you are. Good stuff right there.
What I was trying to get at with my post was information on the best 'foundation' of the bloody mary which is the tomato. Everything else is "witch doctoring" to taste. What's the best juice tomato that stands up to getting a little watered down.

Any you like the flavor of if you aren't against reducing the juice a bit.
A good heart type tomato would work wonders.
Wes comes to mind.
To me the very idea of any kind of alcohol and tomato turns me off.
But that doesn't mean I cant tell what people want and make one.

My secret ingredient is Aujus. That beefy taste will make you come back for more. It's funny...I like horseradish....but not in my Mary.

Lol, I was thinking of something like that worth. The way you properly mix vodka and tomatoes is by drinking the vodka while watching the tomatoes grow. Everyone is into relaxation - I can't think of anything more relaxing than that.

Too late! We can get Tito's in just about every liquor store around these parts. It's gone up in price quite a bit since it first hit the shelves, but it's still very affordable and our vodka of choice.

Crystal hot sauce, on the other hand, needs to be ordered on line.
