What is This???
Hi ..I found this recipe as a seed-starter mix...can anybody help me re what 0.20.0 fertilizer is and also 19-6-12 fertilizer ..Now I am in New Zealand and because of the packaging of most I cannot even read what is in them..
Heres the recipe? 2 parts peat moss, 1 part perlite, 1 part vermiculite (parts by volume, not weight), 1 teaspoon lime, 1 teaspoon 0-20-0 fertilizer, 2 teaspoons 19-6-12 fertilizer I think 0.20.0 is potash?? Thankyou Ron.. |

The 50% peat, 25% perlite, 25% vermiculite is a very good soiless starter mix. On the fertilizer, I don't think it plays a role until the formation of the 2nd set of true leaves, and I have doubts about granular ferts in container applications. I'd look to something water soluble when the time comes, Floranova Grow is available in NZ and I'd dose at the minimum level, it's plenty enough till at least the second cluster.

The fertilizer designations are N P K here in my part of the world.Nitrogen,Phosphorous,Potassium. Naturally different plants will need different ratios at growth stages.Foilage growth, flowering, fruit set etc.Hope that answers some of your question.

Kurt..I know now that 0.20.0 is Super Phosphate...A 19-6-12 fertilizer is sold in the US as Miracle Gro Shake and Feed ..while
there is a Osmocote 19-6-12 Controled Release Fertilizer..As i understand a company Scotts make both...but not in Australia so its not available here in New Zealand.. Actually brass's me off ..so I just have to leave it out...One hardly get anything here??? apart from sheep manure.. Thanks Ron Last edited by murihikukid; September 14, 2016 at 12:14 PM. |
