Go to EBay and look at the varieties that El_Diablo offers. He has a ton of different ones.
They are priced at $1.99/pack with free shipping, and he gives you a second pack of your choice as a freebee. So...the actual cost is $.99/pack and free shipping.

I bought several varieties from him last year (8-10, I think) and every single one grew true-to-form. Plants were vigorous and very good germination, too.

He is actually a member here at Tomatoville, with the user name TN Peppers.
The reason he's not been posting lately has something to do with an email address change that left him unable to log in. I believe he's tried to sort this out with Admin. but evidently hasn't worked so far.

I know EBay can be hit or miss, but I can vouch for his seeds.
He has over 100 varieties, all OP, and lots of hard-to-find ones, too.
It's a super way to trial multiple varieties for little expense.
He even has Kiss The Sky and Daniel Burson...well, I could go on and on.

A quick way to find his listings: go to EBay and do a search for Margaret Curtain tomato, find his listing for it and then "See Other Items."

As for Cherokee Green, why not check out Marsha's seed offer in the Avaiable For Trade section. She has seeds for Cherokee Lime, which is Cherokee Green but with a clear epidermis (Cherokee Green has yellow so it ends up looking yellow as it ripens.)

Having tried both, I think Cherokee Lime is way better, though one would think they should be the same except for skin color.

All you need is a SASE!

Thank You! I was just going to mention that myself. Margaret Curtain us also being offered. Mine pretty much grow true because at the time of year that I grow, we don't have cross pollination. Most tell me my seeds are very good, and the offer is free for up to 15 varieties, but you do have to mail me a self addressed stamped envelope and labelled baggies.

I'm out on this one since no way am I going to start listing seed sources, since if I do I know I'm going to possibly offend some, and I'm not going to do that.

Charley, you also have the option of listing what you want in the WANTED seed subforum here at Tville, and those offering seeds to you wouldn't offer you same if they were not true to a variety.

No such thing as the best source.
I suggest looking at several sources, you will find a wider range of selections that way. It may be easier to suggest who is not up to par. Personally, I think all seed that is sold should be checked out to make sure there is no crosses in it, germination rates are good, and the orders should be filled and shipped in a timely manner. I also like a good deal, a generous quantity is a good start.

The Best seed source is for free.
You can go to "Wanted .." forum and ask. I don't have any of those that you are looking for otherwise would have sent you. I have got close to 10 seed varieties from the members here and I want to pay it forward if anyone needs seeds that I have. On occasion I have sent seeds to Europe and many places in US. But I still feel like I owe more .
Anyway, good luck with your seed source search.

The only issue with ebay vs established companies is that you don't know the reliability of the vendor when it comes to accuracy in seed identification. Not to say some ebay sellers aren't reliable it is just sometimes hard to tell which from which. Just a thought.

Buy from someone comitted enough to be a legitimate business. Someone who has invested time and resources into a website/ catalog/ licence. Who grows their own seeds and who knows what the varieties are supposed to look like. Keep the reputable small companies in business by spending just a bit more on quality seeds.
Oddly Cheap seeds are crappy seeds. Full stop end of story.

Now I save most of the seed that I use and trade for one now and then that I would like to try to see if it can live up to what I look for in a tomato.

I have had good luck with Tomato Growers Supply in the past and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I bought a lot of what are now my favorite varieties from them and only had two varieties that did not grow out true and Linda was good about replacing them. I think her prices are reasonable and she carries a lot of great varieties both heirloom and hybrid and a good pepper selection also.

Are you sticking to it? Papa Dennis sells on eBay and his "cheap" seeds are good and a bargain to boot.

I'm not going to say they are the best, how could you be best, you are go0d or not good when it comes to this.
It isn't a foot race.

TGS is very good and the only company I have ordered from.
They have what I want and have good service.
I have said this a thousand times.
Many members here sell seeds they are good companies too.
I just cant buy from everyone to make them happy.
