Default best source for Sungold seeds or plants?

I have sort of gotten behind the ball this year - determined to grow Sungolds, though.

What is the best source for seeds or plants? An Amazon seller from whom I purchased has meh reviews, with a sizeable amount of reviews aiming unstable seeds.

What company owns that patent, and who should I purchase from to I sure F1 Sungold seeds?

Almost all major seed companies carry that one. I use Fedco, or Johnny's for much of my generic ordering.

I use ToamtoGrowersSupply and Johnny's for most purchases every year. Also SampleSeedShop is great...1.50 a pack and great for trying new things. All are fast shipping.

*another seed supplier that has sample packs often mentioned here has been iffy. I saved all my invoices and they have three varieties on back order and i've not heard from them. (purchased in December).

Stick with good recommended sources. Many others but just posting my experience this season...

For Bonnie Plants, I've not seen a Sungold at a home Depot or Lowe's around here in past years. Black Cherry I saw for the first time last year. Always, Supersweet 100 and Husky Red.

Pinetree Seeds - $1.95 for 15 seeds
I saw a free shipping code in an e-mail from them today, but I deleted it. Try `FreeShip' or `Shipfree' - I think it was one of these, or call them.

Tatiana's - $2.50 CDN ($1.87 USD) for 15 seeds

I agree completely with both sources for seeds.

When Reinhard Kraft in Germany was, and actually still is, since he ditched his antho project,he's back still dehybridizing F1 Sungold, to add to the other 3 already released. He needed more Sungold F1 and asked me if I could get some F1 seeds for him since the price in Germany was ridiculous.

I went to Pinetree, don't remember what I paid but very little for I think it was maybe 15 or 20 seeds. That was probably noted in the link above.

Done deal and sent them to him.

Yes, some years Bonnie carries SunGold.
Years ago I bough a Kitzawa (?) pack of Sungold at a Japanese grocery store. So apparently
the owners of hybrid sell it in bulk to various seed retailers.
BTW: has anybody tried to grow F2 Sungold ?

I use Tomato Growers Supply.$3.65 for what they say is 30 seeds but you actually get about 50. They also sell it in bulk. Careful, you go there to get Sungold F1, and their selection is so great, you end up with a bunch of others, which is OK, justifies their shipping.

Wilbur, have you heard about Esternia F1? It's supposed to taste like Sungold, but it doesn't split in the rain. Trying it this year. Excited to not have them split in my hand as I pick them.

Gardeneer, F2 was indistinguishable from F1 for me, but others have experienced hard and off color fruit. Guess I was lucky, I've grown about 10 F2 plants over the years, with Bonnie being the seed source.

Lisa , thanks for the review and feedback on Esterina F2.
I hope that I will get lucky too.

I have just 2 plants. Also have 2 Sun Gold. So there will be a competition in my garden.

I sell them 10 seeds for $1.50. It is actually 13 seeds with a very high germ rate. My shipping is $4.75, but if you are buying other things than it is cheap as I keep everything reasonably priced.

I grow Esterina F1, and I love it, but it definitely is not like Sungold in flavor - nothing is, in my view. Still, Esterina is wonderful, and very productive, but it does much, much better in my greenhouse than it does outdoors. Well, same goes for Sungold, and pretty much everything else, truth be told!
